Trust & Security
Legal use, ethical use, transparency, and how to download safely.
Legal Usage Policy
HWMonitor is distributed by CPUID. Use the software in accordance with the vendor’s terms and your local laws. This site does not grant any license; we are an independent guide. For licensing and terms, refer to the official CPUID website.
Ethical Usage Statement
HWMonitor is intended for legitimate system monitoring: checking temperatures, voltages, fan speeds, and hardware health on systems you own or are authorized to manage. Do not use it to monitor others’ computers without clear consent and authorization. Remote monitoring (e.g. HWMonitor PRO over a network) should only be used in authorized IT or consenting environments—not for surveillance or unauthorized access.
Transparency
We do not claim that HWMonitor is open source unless the vendor states so. What you can verify as a user:
- Publisher: Check the digital signature and publisher (CPUID) on the downloaded file.
- Download source: Prefer the official CPUID site; reputable mirrors (e.g. Softonic, Guru3D, TechSpot) often host the same builds.
- Hashes: If CPUID publishes SHA256 or other hashes, compare them after download.
- Reputation: HWMonitor has been used by enthusiasts and IT for years; reviews and download counts on known portals are a signal, not a guarantee.
Boundary: This site is an independent software authority guide for HWMonitor. We are not CPUID and do not speak for them. For official statements, downloads, and support, use cpuid.com.
No Malware Clarification
The official HWMonitor build from CPUID is a legitimate monitoring utility. It is not malware, spyware, or adware. It reads hardware sensors and displays data; it does not modify system files for malicious purposes. Antivirus false positives can occur because of low-level access; see our Guides and Download page for how to verify and use safely.
Trusted Downloads & Avoiding Repacked Installers
To avoid tampered or bundled software:
- Download HWMonitor from the official CPUID website or from well-known software portals that distribute the unmodified installer/ZIP.
- Avoid “repacked” installers from unknown sites, “cracked” versions, or links in forums/ads that are not clearly the official or a trusted mirror.
- Check file properties and digital signature; if the vendor publishes a hash, verify it after download.
HWMonitor PRO and Remote Monitoring
HWMonitor PRO supports monitoring multiple computers remotely over a network. This is aimed at IT teams and authorized fleet management—not surveillance. Use only on systems you own or have explicit permission to monitor. Consent and authorized environments are essential. For features and pricing, see the official CPUID site.
